Digital Forensics in West Michigan
Preserving, examining, and documenting digital evidence for attorneys and their clients.
Digital evidence, handled carefully
Today nearly every case involves a phone, a computer, or an online account. Digital evidence is easy to damage and easy to challenge. Legacy helps attorneys and clients preserve it correctly, examine it, and document what was found so it can be relied on.
What we handle
- Preservation and imaging of computers, phones, and external storage
- Recovery and review of deleted files, messages, and call or browsing history
- Email, text message, and social media evidence collection
- Timelines of device activity relevant to a case
- Review of digital evidence produced by the other side
- Clear written reports and a documented chain of custody
Why handling matters
Powering on, searching, or “cleaning up” a device can change or erase the data that matters. If a device may become evidence, stop using it, keep it powered down if you can, and call before anyone looks through it.
Investigator experience
As a former county detective, I know how evidence has to be gathered, labeled, and documented to survive scrutiny. Those same habits apply to digital work: record what was collected, when, from where, and by whom.
Lawful access only
We examine devices and accounts only with the owner’s authorization or at the direction of counsel. We do not break into accounts, intercept communications, or install monitoring software on anyone else’s device.
Legacy Private Investigations does not provide legal advice. Findings are reported factually, and counsel decides how they are used.
